Year 3 2024 - 2025
Welcome back Year 3!
We've had a good start to the Summer term, exploring all kinds of different subjects and I hope Year 3 enjoy the rest of the year with me.
Some work will be challenging, but it’s lots of fun too!
Summer One.
This half term we will be doing lots of learning. The topics in English are Story telling and non chronological reports. The children will be recreating their own version of the book "Romans on the rampage" The children will have lots of fun creating their own non chronological reports on the romans.
English.
In English we will be working on storytelling, we will undertsand what to include in a story to keep the reader interested. We will also be creating our own non chronological report based on the Romans.
Science.
In science our topic is plants, I look forward to teaching them all about what plants need to survive and conducting many exciting experiments.
History.
We are starting the topic of Lancashire cotton industry, this will teach the children about where some of our clothes come from and how it has evolved over time to what we have today!
Computing
During our computing lessons we will be looking at branching databases, this will include what they are, the purpose of them and examples of how they can be used in our lives! We will be creating our own branching databases and recognising the importance of them.
P.E.
P.E during this half term includes exploring invasion games (handball), focusing on the core skills of throwing and catching while in a competitive environment. Additionally our second lesson of P.E will be focusing around myths and legends and creating routines that tell stories.
