PSHE

At Whittlefield Primary School, our PSHE and RSHE curriculum is designed to help every child become safe, healthy, confident and respectful members of society. Through our whole-school approach, we support pupils to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding they need to thrive both now and in the future.

Our curriculum is delivered through the SCARF Coram Education programme, supplemented by POL-ED resources and tailored learning opportunities that reflect the needs of our children and community. Lessons promote emotional wellbeing, resilience, healthy relationships, online safety, diversity, personal safety and positive mental health.

We believe that safeguarding and personal development extend beyond the classroom. Children benefit from visits, workshops and partnerships with organisations including Lancashire Constabulary, the Canal and River Trust, NHS professionals, Burnley Council and SCARF wellbeing specialists. These experiences help pupils learn about road safety, water safety, community safety, transition to secondary school and how to seek support when needed. As part of preparing children for later life, pupils in Years 5 and 6 also develop financial awareness and money management skills, including budgeting, saving and responsible decision making.

Our PSHE curriculum promotes our school values of Dream, Believe, Achieve and ensures that all children feel valued, supported and prepared for life in modern Britain.
