Meet Our Governors

At Whittlefield Primary School, our Governing Body plays an important role in supporting the school’s leadership and ensuring that the school continues to provide the best possible education and opportunities for all our children.

Governors have a range of legal duties and responsibilities. They work closely with our Headteacher, Mrs Jane Thistlethwaite, providing both support and appropriate challenge, while recognising that the Headteacher is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of the school, as well as its strategic direction.

All governors are expected to understand their safeguarding responsibilities and to keep up to date with the relevant guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE).

Our Full Governing Body meets once each term. The Governing Body brings together people with a range of experience and perspectives, including representatives from our local community, parents and carers, school staff and the Headteacher. Together, they contribute to the continued development of Whittlefield Primary School and help ensure that our decisions reflect the needs and interests of our whole school community.

As part of the Whittlefield Family, our governors share the school’s commitment to creating a safe, inclusive and supportive environment where every child is valued, able to flourish and given the opportunity to reach their full potential.
